Hello guys. I am new to this forum and have been really amazed by the wonderful work you guys are doing. That's really very helpful and informative!!

I have a question and would be extremely obliged if anyone could guide me. It is written on the CPSP website in frequently asked questions that one can start/continue his FCPS training in Ireland. Please read question 3 of the following link:
    http://www.cpsp.edu.pk/index.php?code=dHJhaW5pbmdfZ3VpZGVsaW5lc3x0cmFpbmluZ19xdWVyeS5waHB8MHwwfDA=
They have written that a candidate can continue FCPS II training in Ireland if he provides a letter to CPSP from the hospital where he is working stating that the hospital is recognized for MRCPI training by the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland and he also submits the complete CV of his supervisor along with "Supervisor Form B". It is also stated that the supervisor must possess FCPS/MRCP/FRCP/FRCS/Diplomat American Board or equivalent qualification plus five years post fellowship experience in a recognized institute. But they have not mentioned if the candidate should actually be having a training post as a registrar there at the hospital. I mean can you continue FCPS II training in Ireland even if you have a non-training, service job at the hospital (eg an SHO job with IMC registration of general division) or is it necessary to have a training post as a registrar there for you to continue FCPS II training? Also I want to know if you can only continue FCPS II training in Ireland for general medicine or can you also continue FCPS II training for a medical subspecialty.

    Hi
I am sad that I missed this query somehow or my reply had not been posted by some error.
Cpsp has not mentioned that it's only for general medicine, the training could be for anything for which you have taken exam.
You must have a training post as you can't be a simple SHO in a training hospital getting training from supervisor, that need training post.

    Hi,
Thanks for feedback and that makes sense. With that, should I conclude also that only medical internees after 2009 can benefit from continuing fcps training in Ireland. Because, currently its hard for drs from before 2009 to get any training posts. They have to work at SHO level. Or do you have other thoughts on that.
    Thanks

It's not like that, after 2009 graduates are exempted from the Ireland pres exam but if they or anyone wanna take training posts, one has to go for pres and apply for training post.
After pres, you may have to take SHO job first and then go for training, but if you have experience you may get into training post directly depending upon availability of such posts
