    HI
FIRST OF ALL, I MUST SAY THAT THIS IS A HIGHLY INFORMATIVE FORUM. I CAME ACROSS IT WHILE SEARCHING FOR SAUDI LICENSING EXAM AND I FOUND THE INFO GIVEN ON THIS FORUM MOST HELPFUL! SO THUMBS UP FOR THAT
HENCE, I THOUGHT I WUD POST MY QUESTION HERE HOPING FOR A CLEAR DIRECTION AS UNFORTUNATELY THINGS ARE USUALLY NOT CLEAR ABOUT THE POST GRAD OPTIONS.
ANYWAYS, I WANT TO KNOW THAT WHAT ARE THE WAYS TO GET INTO IRELAND TRAINING ( SPECIALITY AND NOT GP). LIKE FOR EG. FOR UK THERE IS EITHER PLAB OR MRCP(S3 STEP). DO I HAVE TO GIVE PRES ? IF YES, THEN WHATS THE NEXT STEP TO GET INTO SPECIALITY TRAINING IN IRELAND. HOW MANY PARTS ARE THERE OF PRES? ALSO, IF I HAVE STUDIED AND DONE MY INTERNSHIP FROM PAKISTAN, THEN AM I EXEMPT FROM PRES? OR IS IT THAT ONLY FOR GP STATUS OVER THERE?
I WUD REALLY APPRECIATE IT IF SOMEONE ELABORATED ON THE DETAILS OF IRELAND TRAINING AND THE DIFFERENT OPPORTUNITIES AVAILABLE FOR POST GRADUATION. AND LASTLY, IS IRELAND A GOOD OPTION FOR POST GRAD AT THE MOMENT AS I HAVE HEARD THERE IS ECONOMIC RECESSION THERE. PLEASE GUIDE ME. I WILL BE MOST GRATEFUL.

    THANK U IN ADVANCE.

    Hi zaina
Thank you so much for compliments and encouragment.
You will have to pass PRES to get youself registered into ireland medical council and also have to do MRCP Ireland or the speciality of your choice Royal college exam.
PRES consists of two parts. PRES Level 2 is a computer based examination and is currently in the form of a Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) examination. PRES Level 3 is an assessment of doctor's clinical skills. but before these exams your documents evaluation will be done. please see http://www.medicalcouncil.ie/Education- ... ndbook.pdf for more information.
Yes ireland is also good option. The usual pathway is to pass PRES exam, pass Royal college exam and then get a training post in a teaching hospital there and then you can continue on training there.
There is exemption from PRES if you have done your house job from Pakistan. please read this for more details http://www.medicalcouncil.ie/Informatio ... rience.pdf
Thats what to my best of knowlege. I hope some one else shed more info on this.
