I am not aware of Step 3 dates as I am new to PMDC exam.Currently going to give Step 1.Can you pls tell me if First Aid for Usmle Step 1 and First Aid for Usmle Step 2 are more than sufficient to answer all the questions be it MCQs or SEQs on the theory part Step 1 and Step 2.

Can you pls provide me with this information and how much time you required to study these exams ? Sir, I would be eagerly waiting your response.

    Thank you in advance.

Personally, I think you need to do thorough revision subject wise for Step 1 according to the pattern given by PMDC( use this thread for guidelines for books http://forum.pfmsg.com/threads/pmdc-exam-steps-preparation-guidelines-and-walkthrough.784/)
For Step 2 study all the subjects given in the PMDC pattern( do all the topics given for all subjects)
Now about First Aid USMLE, I don't think it should be used as a MAIN Or ONLY book for revision for NEB exam. Although you can use it for different subjects and topics(Using mnemonics and main concentrated knowledge).
First thorough revision should be done and then if you want to use First Aid USMLE you can use it as you may like. But I don't think it would be right to call it "sufficient" for NEB.
Now about the time period, for STEP 1: 4-5 months.
    STEP 2 : 4-5 months. again.
Make a schedule for revision that is realistic and then study with the schedule.
If find it hard to do it at home then join one of the academies for NEB preparation. It will enable you to study according to the schedule and on regular basis. But you can also pass by self study if its planned and proper(even on 1st try). One more thing There's no shortcut(except the well known and obvious one in Pakistan, which I don't entertain or has any regarding info)
If need further info, plz do ask.
    Good luck
    God bless!

Thank you Dr Ryan for taking your time out and replying .I am forever gratefull for the information you have provided. It has given me directions as to what and how I should prepare for the exam.

I just have a question about the eligibility letter .There is a form which we have to fill in quadreplet copies and have to provide all authenticated documents .I have all of them except the syllabus which has been asked ? Did you personally have to provide it too or its not a necessary document (syllabus ) like degree and mark sheet (transcript ).I dont have the syllabus. Will be refused eligibility letter due to this ?

Sir, I would be waiting for your reply.I am really worried on this.

Thank you again and may God bless you and never harm come your way.Ameen.

Thank you for all the kind words.
About the permission letter, I know its one of the most stressful tasks for NEB( Very confusing fill in forms and everything) but its still to be done. I remember facing the same problem about that "syllabus" document as you can see in the "document checklist" no. 6 and no. 7 are almost the same thing. and I didn't have any separate "syllabus" document. and honestly I don't exactly understand what they are asking for. All i had was the Transcript letter showing all the subjects(year wise), credit hours and marks for each exam. And I don't remember giving any document like that. and I still got the Letter.

So now about your problem, I think what they mean by university syllabus is the list of all the subjects in each year and their credit hours allocation. We were given such a paper when we started our first year in medicine but it was just for their own university admin office use. and I didn't had it by the time I graduated(it did't had any university seal or sign, just plain print out) and no such document was included in the stock of documents given to us by university after graduation. So If you have such document(The one I explained) or can get it by one of your class mates or can get from the university through email then its well and good.
But if you don't have it or can't get it either then don't worry just give your Transcript letter I mentioned above having subjects, CHs and marks and everything. and check both documents in the check list. That's what I did. Personally I don't think there's much difference between no. 6 and no. 7(on check list) and it should not matter
Complete rest of every and each document listed( relevant to your case). Do the attestations. and submit them
I don't think there should be any problem(IA).
    Happy to help.
    Good luck.
    God bless!

Thank you Dr Ryan once again for taking your time out and replying .Well, my transcript has all the subjects year wise and credit hours, marks for each exam just like your transcript sheet .I will submit this as I dont have a separate syllabus with me.

The attestation of these documents from Rawalpindi Medical College should be done by only Professor or any associate professor can also do it .Would you pls elaborate on this.

    Thank you again.
    God Bless you .

You should just get all documents attested by any professor/associated prof. /lecturer/ MO who are working in a public(gov) medical college/university( in the relevant teaching hospital).
Just go to any public(gov) hospital or medical college in whichever city you are living and attest the documents from any professor/associated prof. /lecturer/ MO and one more thing, the stamp should mention the name, designation, teaching hospital name. For example if in Rawalpindi, you can go to Rawalpindi medical college or one of the hospitals associated with it(D.H.Q, Holly family, General hospital)
    God Bless!

Thank you once again Dr Ryan for taking your time out and replying .I will get them attested as per your description.

I do have one final question though concerning :

1).How many times the exam happens in a year ?
2).When is the time/month around which the exam will be held in 2016 ?

3).Also after passing Step 1 can I take Step 2 and after passing Step 2 can take Step 3 in one sitting ?

4).After passing Step 1 do I have to wait for 6 months or so to take Step 2 ?

Dr Ryan I would be absolutely gratefull if you elaborate on this for me.

Thanking you again and May God bless you always.Ameen.

The thread it getting off topic and should be moved to relevant section by admin. Anyways, to answer your queries
    1) well it really depended on PMDC how many times the exam is conducted in a year. They have conducted sometimes thrice and twice in year but on october 27 2015 a notice was issued regarding tender of conduction of exam quoting" twice in a year" which shows they are going to conduct it only twice a year from now on. Here's the notice http://www.pmdc.org.pk/Portals/0/Annoc/TN-27-10-15.pdf

2)Regarding next Step 1/2 exam in 2016 I have no idea (I don't think anybody else has it either)when they are going to conduct it.

    3) first you have to give Step 1 whenever conducted, after passing then you can give Step 2 which probably will be conducted after 6 months of step 1( as per notice) and once passed then you can give Step 3 which will be conducted within one month( thats what they say but people who passed last Step 2 are still waiting for step 3 for almost 2 months now. So anything can happen with the time period they say.)
    4) no.3 answers it as well.

You should check all the info from PMDC official site regarding NEB, pattern and everything and start preparing.
    God Bless!

Thank you Dr Ryan once again.I am really gratefull for all the knowledge and information and advice I have received through you.

I just pray and wish your Step 3 happens as quickly as possible without furthur delay. The frustration of waiting is more stressfull than even the exam.Is it not possible to go to the PMDC and enquire why exam is not taking place ? Whats the reason behind the delay ?

Thank you once again and May God bless you and give you success in every aspect in your life.Ameen.

well according to some sources, the delay is probably due to PMDC elections which have been delayed in Punjab by LHC and the next hearing regarding the elections in Punjab will be held on 11th dec.
Its PMDC !!! anything is possible and impossible here!! You will get to know them better with time;)
Thanks again for all the kind words. Happy to help:)
and I wish you best with the exams and May God give you success in every aspect in your life. Ameen
    God bless!
